Hello, I’m Jim Goforth, or Pastor Goforth, Pastor Jim, James L. Goforth Jr.

I was an evangelist for 8 years, then a pastor in Texas, St Louis, and then Kaiserslautern, Germany, in an English Language Church ministering primarily to USA Military Personnel and Families.

Lisa and I have recently returned to the USA to care for some family issues.

Now as of August 5th we have accepted the call to be the Lead Pastor at First Baptist Church Mixon, Texas. Mixon is a small ranching community in the Tyler suburb of Troup. The church is 152 years young and is primed for growth as Tyler expands and people move out. Already though, “these woods and pastures of full of people” who need Jesus. We are ready to minister to those faithful followers of Christ and prepare for the next residents who will come.

I am the husband to Lisa since 1985 and have two sons AJ (1988) and Bryan (1992) as well as Bryan’s bride Maggie, and our sweet granddaughter, Lydia.

I am a singer, musician, and songwriter, as well as an avid athlete and fly fisherman.  On my day off you’ll find me on the golf course

  1. I was encouraged by your work today, I Know, Child. My husband and I are doing an interim work at the IBC in Panama. Your words were just what I needed to be lifted to Him today. Thank you for writing…I know it’s hard work.

  2. Hello….I am trying to locate the pastor that tried to start a church in Chateaugay NY many years ago and I am wondering if you are him?
