Hello, I’m Jim Goforth, or Pastor Goforth, Pastor Jim, James L. Goforth Jr.

I was an evangelist and concert artist for 8 years, then a pastor in Houston, St Louis, and Kaiserslautern, Germany in an English Language Church ministering primarily to USA Military Personnel and Families. Lisa and I then returned to the USA to care for some family issues and served as the Lead Pastor at First Baptist Church Mixon, Texas.

In January 2022, Lisa and I returned “home” to Ferguson, Missouri. We lived in Ferguson for 11 years, raised our sons and served two churches. We accepted the call to return and serve as the Senior Pastor at the First Baptist Church Ferguson.

The City of Ferguson has a long history, but recent history has seen things that got the world’s attention and revealed problems and issues about which the church should take the Lead. We have returned to Ferguson because we love the city, the region, and want to allow God to be glorified as the church transforms and leads the city to look like Heaven. This kind of ministry is my heart and passion, come join us.

I am the husband to Lisa since 1985 and have two sons AJ (1988) and Bryan (1992), as well as Bryan’s bride Maggie, and our sweet granddaughter, Lydia, and grandson Elliot

I am a singer, musician, and songwriter, an avid athlete, fly fisherman, love skiing , and we are classic car owners.  I’ve become a runner, most notably completing two Marathons in the last two years.  On my day off you’ll usually find me on the golf course, if I’m not training for the next marathon.
